Hi from Alex

Friday, March 26th, 2010

The trouble with doing all these trunk shows (which we love) is that the girls won’t let me post a new blog because they want to use it for plugging the events. But EC One was last night so I’ve been given the OK. So, what news? I’ll start with our trunk show last night at EC One in Westbourne Grove, which was a great success.

One of my favorite pieces sold in the first minute, and it was super busy all night. Everyone at EC One did such a great Job, the display was lovely and snack and drinks were fab (yum). The shows runs on for another couple of weeks so don’t worry if you missed it. Check it out here.

I had a meeting yesterday with the people who will be constructing our New Studios, KLH. It’s all getting very exciting. We’ll keep you updated but as things stand we’re trying to build a fab new 5 story HQ in London Bridge, with a shop! So I spend half my time in meetings with Architects and engineers. It’s too exciting for words so I have to keep pinching myself to make sure it’s real!

We had great fun making a necklace for gorgeous actress Lesley Sharp, she was presenting an award at the Oliviers and had this fab Vivienne Westwood dress which needed a special necklace. We did this asymmetric layered necklace with a big smokey quartz briolette.

While the Oliviers were Oliviering I was out of town at a friend’s Private view. Mark Francis had his opening at the Abbot Hall gallery in Kendall (Lake District), so I offed on the train up north. Great exhibition, then on for a meal at Blackwell in Bowness-on-windamere, then on to the Motor boat club at Bowness for a few late night whiskeys. A big breakfast and a walk in the rain soon saw me right again.

By the way, we had our first lunch outside the other day. Please let this mean Spring is finally here!!!

And lastly but not leastly, I’ll be banging on about this as time goes on…. I’m going to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats with a few friends to raise money for research into blindness. Here’s our JustGiving page if anyone feels generous. Plenty more about this very soon. Thanks!

Trunk Show at Ec One, 25th March!

Thursday, March 18th, 2010

We are very excited about our next Trunk Show, this time traveling to Notting Hill to visit Ec One’s gorgeous boutique at 56 Ledbury Road.

The event will also mark the launch of ‘The Gardener’ at Ec One, and Alex will be popping in to say hello. It’s all happening next Thursday, the 25th of March, from 6-9pm.

We’ve been running our Trunk Shows for just over a year now, and the idea is that we visit our stockists with a special selection of individually made, one-off pieces, which are available exclusively at the event.

Here’s a little sneak at three of the pieces we will be taking along……you can view more on our Facebook page.

Ec One will also be offering a special discount on the night, and recommend that you rsvp if you would like to attend. Drop a line to Katherine at press@econe.co.uk

As we can’t make it everywhere with the Trunk Show (although we’d love to!) we now have a ‘Trunk Show’ selection available on-line, so that our fans all over the world don’t miss out on the amazing opportunity to own an Alex Monroe one-off. But you need to be quick – there is literally only one of each piece!

We hope you can make it along next week – Suzy.A and Ulrikke will be helping out, and they are really looking forward to seeing you there!

What day is it? Oh yes, beginning of March, I must be in Paris again!

Paris in the Spring!

(it’s cold, but lovely and sunny)

It’s Paris Fashion Week again. The days are quite long, from 8AM to 8PM. Having to speak French, Italian, Japanese etc so my brain hurts a bit. Day two today and a really busy day so it went very quickly. Lots of Japanese buyers to keep us busy. The stand looks nice and we’ve lovely new collections so all in all, I’m pretty pleased.
