Emma’s bike!

Tuesday, April 27th, 2010

How funny, one of the bike necklaces I made was my daughter’s 1970′s Raleigh Jeep, and Emma said that’s exactly the bike she learned to cycle on back in 1988! Here’s a pic to prove it. Ahhhh, wasn’t she sweet? (she still is of course) Who would have thought she’d grow up to be top PR manager? By the way,  Emma’s Dad David is going to join us on our way during our big charity bike ride!

EyeCycle news!!!

Friday, April 23rd, 2010

Hi All,

Very exciting news from me, we’re launching our latest charity venture; ‘EyeCycle’. We’re trying to raise money for research into preventing blindness (particularly in kids), so I’m doing a HUGE sponsored cycle ride (do make a donation here!) from 1st to 14th July, and I have made some gorgeous pieces of jewellery to auction off. Here’s a pic, but do visit the EyeCycle web-site, and follow us on our journey. If anyone can spare a few quid I would really appreciate a little donation. Here’s our Just Giving page. Leave a message, and you’ll probably get a nice place in heaven specially reserved. (Can’t guarantee that of course)

Look at us! What are the chances of our cycling over 1000 miles unscathed. Heeeeeelp!

Oh yes, one more thing, the trunk show in Chancery Lane was a great success, almost too much so. People rang beforehand to reserve pieces, the first lady bought four items and it got busier from there! Good fun, great shop and a fab area which I hadn’t explored before.

Trunk Show-Stopper!

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

Tomorrow we will be at Ede and Ravenscroft, 92 Chancery Lane, from 4-8pm with a brand new selection of one-off Trunk Show pieces.  The shop is being decorated as I type by Hannah and her team, and it’s sounding gorgeous, with lots of lovely flowers, plus Champagne refreshments!

Alex will be popping by, and myself and Rakhi will also be on hand to answer any questions you may have on the jewellery or the company…….

My absolute favourite piece we are taking is this one……just had to share it!

Just an idea….. we thought of doing some jewellery making tutorials on YouTube. Here’s one we did very quickly, cutting out a peacock feather. Anyway, we also thought it might be fun for everyone to see how things are made.

Let us know what you think and if you’d like to see a full series, ‘The Jewellery Tutorials’

More soon,

Alex

What I’ve been up to…

Monday, April 19th, 2010

Hi All,

Lots been happening so I thought I’d do a little update. More non-work than work but that’s OK….. so what’s been up? Easter. That was lovely, At work we’re too busy for words. I’m trying to work on new collections and the new shop is taking up more time (don’t mention Southwark planners to me!). Anyway, here’s some nice pics, starting with Sally’s house in Majorca for Easter….

Back in the UK I went to a great exhibition at the Imperial War museum.

Then got measured up for a new bike at Roberts. I was in cycle heaven…

Then I built a frog sanctuary for Connie….

And then we played rounders in the park at Connie’s birthday party.

We had a house-sitter in our house while we were away in Majorca and she trashed our lovely home and stole loads of stuff, (including my precious wine collection), so lovely neighbour Jeremy bought us round a selection of whites from his wine import business, to cheer us up. Aren’t people lovely…..

Next stop, Chancery Lane!

We seem to be Trunk Show crazy at the moment, with pieces being snapped up from our on-line selection in minutes! (Or at least hours!)

If you would like to come and see what all the fuss is about, why not pop along to Ede & Ravenscroft next Thursday, the 22nd of April?

Their lovely team of ladies will be only too pleased to offer you a glass of champagne while you have a little browse, and the event runs from 4-8pm.  They will also have a new delivery of stock (Bees, Owls, Birds….) alongside those extra-special one-offs.

Come and see us at Madeleine Hamilton!

Come and see us at Ede & Ravenscroft!

Next up will be Bloomsbury in Bristol, on the 6th of May – for all of our West Country fans!

More details will follow on our blog, but don’t forget to join our Facebook page too, for up-to-the minute and sometimes exclusive news!

InStyle’s Golden Ticket!

Wednesday, April 7th, 2010

I hope everyone had a nice Easter, and didn’t over-indulge too much….we’re always trying to ‘be good’ here at AMHQ, but we always seem to have a huge pile of chocolate / biscuits / cake so it’s tricky!

We love InStyle Magazine anyway, as they are always featuring our pieces, but especially so this month, as they are running a ‘Golden Ticket’ giveaway with thousands of brilliant prizes, including a trip to Greece, a Chloe bag, bed and breakfast at a Malmaison Hotel, and of course some Alex Monroe goodies!

We have offered FIVE £100 Gift Vouchers to be used on our website – so we hope this will cheer you up while we are waiting for Spring to arrive!

Just purchase the May issue of InStyle, and find your Willy Wonka style ticket for a chance to win. You will then need to register the magic number online.

Good Luck!!

Good Luck!!

Our Trunk Show concept seems to be going from strength to strength, and on the 22nd of this month we are off to Madeleine Hamilton in Chancery Lane, then I’ll be making my way to Bloomsbury in Bristol on the 6th of May for our first West Country event! Watch this space for further details nearer the time.

Net-A-Porter has been in the news a lot recently, with big shares being sold, and we are so proud that we are part of their business. They have a great capsule collection of Alex Monroe, and do amazing product and model shots of the pieces, for those of you who want to see our pieces being worn before you purchase.

Don’t forget that there are some great images of our pieces being worn on the press page of our site. Most recently, the lovely Sophie at Look magazine did this great feature, using five of our Rings on one shot! Check it out:

We especially love the stacked Twig Rings.

Finally, I just had to share this gorgeous picture of our adorable Love Birds Ring, sent to us by Sophie Peart, the loving owner of ‘Harry and Mary’ as she calls them!

Good luck with the InStyle competition, and I’ll be in touch again soon!

Happy Easter!

Friday, April 2nd, 2010

Hi All,

Happy Easter! I love Easter more than Christmas I think. Four days off work and none of the pressure. And the weather is better (hmm, well, not sure if it is this year, but the sun’s just come out as I write). The kids have started on the chocolate already, and I’m thinking of doing half an hour in the garden. Tomorrow I’m off to Majorca, to stay in a friend’s house and do a bit of mountain cycling. Can’t wait. I hope you all have a nice break. Alex
