I’m still here!

Tuesday, July 27th, 2010

Hi All,

Just thought I ought to reassure you all, I am still here. Promise. It’s just been one of those weeks. One of those quite-a-few weeks to be precise. I have great plans to write properly, but just in case time flies without me, here’s a very quick update on what’s been going on…

Firstly and mostly I did finish my huge bike ride. Actually I’ve found stopping harder than the actual doing of it. I could have carried on forever (except we ran out of U.K. of course).

John and Lloyd, rather wet.

I’m behind the camera of course. I was unofficial photographer and film crew (you just wait, ‘LeJog, the movie’ will be out soon)

Anyway, I finished the cycle (1670.2 kilometers), taxied to Inverness airport, flight to Gatwick, taxi home, pick up the kids from friend’s houses, got babysitter, changed, 176 bus into town, ran into the awards ceremony within seconds from us getting best web-site award. Very nice too. We didn’t get designer of the year this time, but I’m not bitter. Besides, they are heavy things, and we ought to share them out a bit.

Back to work for a few days. I think discombobulated is the word, if it is a real word, but exciting projects ahead; Astley Clark, Burts bees, British Bee Keepers, those people that make the nice water-rolly thing to purify water, oh, I don’t know, lots and lots more….

But it is summer, and I’ve never been much of a jetsetter, so I wizzed off to my friend’s posh party in Majorca for the week-end. We stayed in the super l’Hermitage near Alaro, and partied ’till dawn (everybody else seemed to last longer than me and Denise!). I had supper with the lovely Kirsty Wark and family. Very nice they were too, I gave her a replacement necklace because hers got nicked recently! Eyes out for a rogue bee on newsnight…

Not bad eh? I feel like I need a rest….

It’s been a very exciting couple of days here at Alex Monroe HQ……

As you all know, Alex has been cycling from Land’s End to John O Groats, truly an epic journey, and on Wednesday he finished! It’s a massive achievement, and we’re all very proud of him.

He emailed this photo to us on Wednesday lunchtime:

Nearly There!

Nearly There!

Last night was the UK Jewellery Awards, which myself and Susie.L were lucky enough to attend – Alex managed to make it back from Scotland just in time for the nominations.  We were shortlisted for two awards, which is a pretty big honor in itself, E-Tailer of the Year, and Designer of the Year…..

Unfortunately we didn’t win the ‘Designer’ category, we had very stiff competition and it went to the amazing Shaun Leane, but….we are over the moon to have won E-Tailer of the Year!

All of us here have such an input into different aspects of running our website, and we all love it, so it’s a real boost to have won this category.

Here’s what they said:

Praise indeed.......

Celebration time!

So thank you for all of your support, and as always, do let us know your feedback. May alexmonroe.com go from strength to strength!!

A Selection of Forest Jewels

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Newly added to the website is Alex’s Forest Jewel Ring Collection.

New ring collection

New ring collection

Taking inspiration from sunlight and shadows in the forest, are these delicate twig rings, with amazing 12mm trillion checkerboard cut stones. The Prasiolite ring comes in solid 18ct white gold, whilst the others come in a solid 18ct yellow gold.

These are great to wear individually, but look even better when worn stacked up together.

You can find them under the Alex Monroe Goldcrest section, called Forest Jewels.

That’s enough jewellery for now, because we can’t forget that Alex is currently cycling 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity! Go have a look at the website, catch up with him on his blog, and consider making a donation to a great cause… you can even bid on his gorgeous 18ct bicycle necklaces!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tom
