Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

We’ve got big news that we’re all really excited about here at Alex Monroe HQ.

Several of Alex Monroe’s 18ct Goldcrest collections are now available in store at Liberty. The Forest Jewels and Eyebright Ring collections, plus a very special new 18ct Baby Bumblebee Necklace are there for you to go see, and try on!

Liberty are the first brick and mortar shop to sell the Goldcrest pieces, which have previously been available only by appointment at our studio and online at the Alex Monroe website. The pieces maintain Alex’s signature style, with the added touch of luxury you get from 18ct Gold, and brilliant colour, thanks to the stunning stones used in each piece.

The Forest Jewels are dominated by beautiful trillion checkerboard cut stones, set in delicate twig rings.

Whilst the stunning Eyebright Rings look great worn individually, and really make an impression when a few are stacked together, mixing the colourful stones for added effect.

Finally, and perhaps most excitingly, there’s the new 18ct Gold Baby Bumblebee Necklace. The addition of the pink sapphire stone shown in the photo, adds a colourful highlight to this Alex Monroe classic, reworked in amazing 18ct Gold. And if the pink sapphire isn’t for you, there are a selection of other coloured stones available. You really need to see this to understand just how beautiful it is!

So pop along to Liberty to have a look at these 18ct Gold pieces and maybe try a few on. With Christmas now visible on the horizon, it’s not too early to start thinking about that extra special gift, for a loved one, or for yourself!

Goldcrests!

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Hey all!  It’s been a while since I last blogged, so I thought it was about time I updated you with what’s been happening at AMHQ.

As you all know, Alex is a super keen nature lover and takes his inspiration directly from the gardens and hedgerows around the UK.  A few weeks ago, Liz Haresnape sent us this wonderful image of a tiny Goldcrest that landed in her parents garden.  Brian and Janet Haresnape found this amazing creature after it bumped its’ head on their window.  Temporarily stunned, they were able to cradle it before it flew off on it’s journey!

You can see where our Alex Monroe Goldcrest gets it’s cute rounded tummy from!

Nicky Ranger has also been in touch, to let us know about the decline of Goldcrests around the UK (down 56%).  If you’re interested in finding out more about wild birds in your area then you should definitely check out the British Trust for Ornithology.  If any of you have cute snaps of animals or insects that Alex has used as inspiration, then please send them to us.  You can e-mail them to me on info@alexmonroe.com

Oh, and I have to share these new photo’s with you – taken this morning, just because I had to!

We’ve been busy making lots of these stunning Posy Bangles, don’t they look gorgeous stacked up together?!!  It’s making me want ALL of them :)

Best,

Susie x

A Selection of Forest Jewels

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

Newly added to the website is Alex’s Forest Jewel Ring Collection.

New ring collection

New ring collection

Taking inspiration from sunlight and shadows in the forest, are these delicate twig rings, with amazing 12mm trillion checkerboard cut stones. The Prasiolite ring comes in solid 18ct white gold, whilst the others come in a solid 18ct yellow gold.

These are great to wear individually, but look even better when worn stacked up together.

You can find them under the Alex Monroe Goldcrest section, called Forest Jewels.

That’s enough jewellery for now, because we can’t forget that Alex is currently cycling 1000 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity! Go have a look at the website, catch up with him on his blog, and consider making a donation to a great cause… you can even bid on his gorgeous 18ct bicycle necklaces!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Tom

What I’ve been up to…

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Hi All,

A little update from me about what I’ve been up to…. Except I can’t ever remember so I have to check the photos on my iphone (that’s slightly worrying isn’t it?)…

Ah yes. Here we are. Lots to report. Some worky stuff, lots not;

A brilliant cycle ride when we took over the marathon route and cycled it in super fast speed. It did require a 5AM start, but it was a really fun morning. Dave Baum made this great little film of it (here)

Life at AMHQ continues as usual. Emma’s mum made the most delicious lemon drizzle cake (or was it maderia, who cares, it was great).

Mayo finished the carry case for the samples before she flew off to Japan for her holls. She made it from tweed which Rosie got from her hometown up north. (Penrith I think, isn’t that the town in Withnail and I?). I’ll be the best accessorized Brit on my trip to Japan in June. Thanks Mayo! And thanks Rosie!

Funny pic of derring-do war correspondant Jeremy Bowen trying to cook a sausage round at Peter’s house. We’ve had a few too many wet and cold barbies this year. Come on sunshine, we need you!

Us hard core cyclists did the South Croydon Loop last week-end. About 40 miles, proper countryside so lovely, but bloody freezing! And I’m starting to get annoyed by London’s potholed roads. Up at 6, back for breakfast (why do we do it?) In the photo; Den, Lloyd, Susie, Robin and Jeremy. Robin and Susie were by far the fittest.

Then we voted (great British democracy at work)

Then it was Susie’s birthday so more cake (yum)

Then we cycled the Suffolk Sunrise 100. A lovely 100k ride in the beautiful Suffolk countryside. It was absolutely brilliant. I loved it (except Denise had a crash and was amulanced off!). The second half we really pushed it, very fast indeed and really fun. I did a little film (very bad but my first attempt) to try to sum it up. Alex Suffolk Sunrise 100 – the movie!

I think Susie is putting together some new photos of our posh Goldcrest collection for the web-site. It’s all looking amazing. Really exciting! And lots more to come!

OK. That’s it from me. Must try and make Bike No. 3 for our charity cycle. The others are going really well. I love the Auction thing. Check out the web-site if you haven’t already. It’s great fun to see what’s going on and who’s bidding etc.

Do think about making a donation to our charity…. it’s really important research to prevent blindness,

Thanks.

Back soon!

Alex
