A bit about you

How would you spend your perfect day off?

A long sleep in (I’m not much of a morning person!) followed by brunch, somewhere dog friendly as my miniature daschund Mr Big will very likely be hanging out with me.

Best ever movie?

The graduate. I love the scenery, interiors and the music in it.
Or any film by Wes Anderson, they’re all a joy to the eye.

Best ever book?

I’m more of a digital person I’m afraid!

Favourite food?

I love all food but I have recently developed a dumpling addiction and it doesn’t help that my favorite restaurant ‘My Neighbours the Dumplings’ is next to my flat in Hackney. I’ll never get bored of going there!

Best Biscuit?

I’m partial to a ginger biscuit now and again,
it’s a Swedish thing!

Favourite getaway?

I have a house in Deal, Kent that I escape to most weekends. I love this little heaven on earth and it’s nice to be by the sea.

Birds or Bees?

Birds

What do you want to be when you grow up?

Fit and healthy (…and rich)

About your shop

How would you describe your shop?

Aria is a store of ideas. We work hard on providing a unique retail experience in our stores by selecting an eclectic range of products by various designers. We like to showcase products that are high quality, good craftsmanship and unique design whether it’s by a well known designer or local independent artist.

What’s special about your store?

The buildings are what make our stores so unique. Our newest showroom, Aria One.Six.Eight is located on the ground floor of an impressive new six-storey building, designed by Amin Taha architects. The original building was destroyed in the Second World War so the new building is a modern interpretation of the original Victorian terrace front, however, since it is a distant memory some of the details have slipped and others misremembered.

Are you easy to find?

You can’t miss us! We’re located between Highbury and Islington tube and Angel Tube. People tend to notice the new building; it’s like nothing else on the street!

What’s the best thing about your location?

We see Upper Street in Islington as the ‘village high street’ of the capital where people come to have a more pleasant and relaxed shopping, eating and drinking experience.

Any other attractions in your area?

Upper Street is a really pleasant area of London, great for shopping and grabbing a bit of lunch. We would definitely recommend checking out Camden Passage, it’s a quirky little cobbled street full of great vintage and antique shops.

Alex Monroe jewellery is charming and captures the essence of British eccentricity. A modern classic and will look great in your jewellery collection for years to come

Do you have a favorite Alex Monroe piece?

I really like the Bee. It’s a classic design and it would look great on anyone. It’s also super cute!

Do you have any shining members of staff?

We have a small team selling Alex Monroe at our One.Six.Eight store and they all have their own charms. Esther our store manager there has a great eye for jewellery and has been selling Alex Monroe for years.

Any tips for customers buying Alex Monroe?

Buying a piece of Alex Monroe jewellery is a definite investment. Each piece comes with care instructions and we also provide an after sales service to make sure your piece will last for years to come. They’re also really versatile pieces that will go with a number of styles, there’s a piece for everyone.

Do you have any happy stories about any Alex Monroe customers you’ve had?

We had a customer come into our store wanting to buy a necklace for her 4 year old daughter as a keepsake. It’s such a lovely idea that this will be cherished forever and have that added sentimental value to it.
