Born from a journey through endangered habitats across the UK, Alex spent last Spring sketching wildflowers, grasses, and trees in meadows and woodlands.Back in the studio, these studies blossomed into jewellery. Alongside our talented Design Team, Alex translated quaking grasses, delicate florals, pine needles, and ancient bark textures into intricate, wearable pieces—each one a celebration of the patience and care behind traditional craftsmanship.
Delicate layers of apple blossom petals and a leaf were hand-pierced from fine silver sheet. Using a traditional technique called chasing — where punches and a hammer are used to shape metal over a soft surface — the silver was gently formed to create subtle curves and dimension, echoing the softness of real petals and capturing the natural beauty of the original forms. The layers were then soldered together, detailed with fine texture lines, and finished with a handcrafted stamen at the centre.
We cast real twigs from apple trees to achieve the perfect “twiggy” texture. The apple branch gave our cuff design a brilliant warmth with detailed ends to the cuff.
After experimenting with different arrangements, the final collection features bold statement earrings, a brooch, and a ring. Each piece is striking in design yet thoughtfully light, crafted to be worn with comfort. The earrings are finished with a delicately suspended bud that adds movement and elegance. A perfect choice for lovers of nature-inspired design with a clean, modern edge.
ANCIENT ORCHARD
The starting point for the collection came when Alex embarked on a project researching and visiting endangered natural habitats in the UK throughout the Spring of 2024. After a number of trips to his chosen locations, Alex studied the plants, flowers and leaves unique to each habitat in great detail, through quick sketches and detailed drawings.
Ancient orchards are traditional, often centuries-old landscapes that are home to a rich variety of wildlife and heritage fruit trees, such as apples, pears, and plums. These orchards were once common across the UK, but they have become increasingly rare and are now considered one of the UK's most endangered habitats.
