Great Ormond Street Hospital
Raised: £33,500+

With the help of our wonderful customers, we have been able to donate an incredible sum to Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital (GOSH) in support of their groundbreaking work in the treatment of sick children across the world.

We continue to donate £30 from every sale of our whimsical ‘Peter Pan’ pieces, inspired by the ‘boy who never grew up’ and his magical land of dreams and adventures. Peter Pan acts as both a mascot and symbol of the hospital, since it’s creator J.M Barry donated the full rights to GOSH in 1929. You can view our Peter Pan collection here.

Mind Charity

Raised: £12,500 +

In the midst of the coronavirus crisis, we launched our very first design competition, ‘Designs For Hope', where we asked our community to design a piece of Alex Monroe jewellery, inspired by what ‘Hope’ means to them.

The winning ideas were transformed in the expert hands of Alex and our Design team, into our limited edition ‘Designs for Hope’ collection. After such an unsettling and challenging time for so many across the world, we decided to donate £30 from the sale of each piece to Mind - an incredible and lifesaving organisation for better mental health.

Mind campaign to knock down stigmas, improve services and promote understanding and respect - you can find out more about Mind’s lifesaving work here.

Alex Monroe Spotlight Sales

Raised: £7500+

We established our ‘Spotlight Sales’ during the coronavirus crisis, in order to offer some support to those we felt were vulnerable or often overlooked. These sales mean that we can be responsive to current world events, whilst providing a treat for our community.
Through our Spotlight Sales we have supported the following charities:

Shelter, Switchboard LGBT+, Campaign to End Loneliness, Women’s Aid, Blueprint For All, The Prince’s Trust and British Red Cross.

The Kassandra Lauren Gordon Fund

In response to the Black Lives Matter movement of 2020, fine jeweller Kassandra Lauren Gordon wrote an open letter to the British jewellery industry highlighting her experiences of discrimination, and asking for a more level playing field for black jewellers. This led to fundraising and the creation of the Kassandra Lauren Gordon Fund, which in conjunction with Goldsmiths Company Charity, provided bursaries of £1000 to 21 UK based black jewellers for business support during the challenging times of the pandemic.

Alex was honoured to be chosen by Kassandra as a judge of the KLG Fund, and in continued commitment to the recipients of the fund, set up a training and support programme for the jewellers, in collaboration with SevenSix Agency. The aim of the programme is to progress the careers and brands of the jewellers, with publicity and marketing training, support and representation. Alonsgide this, we continue push the conversation on systemic racism and use our privilege of experience and position within the jewellery industry to take action against discrimination.

The Make bank

Raised: £1000+

2021 marked the second incarnation of our Designs for Hope competition, this time created in collaboration with three brilliant young people. It celebrates the optimism, connection, resilience and hope so clearly present within this future generation.

In support of childhood creativity and inclusivity, £40 from every sale of this collection will be donated to ‘The Make Bank’, providing two Art Kits for disadvantaged students.

'The Make Bank' is a wonderful initiative founded by artist Kirsty Young and aims to tackle creative poverty in schools, through the provision of Art and Design Kits and career support from industry professionals. Like us, The Make Bank believes that the creative industries should be equal, accessible and fair. Read more about The Make Bank here.

WIRES Australian Wildlife Rescue Organisation
Raised: £3000+

The natural world means everything to Alex and our team, and we were devastated by the impact of the Australian Bushfires at the start of 2020.

In support of the urgent rehabilitation work, and the ongoing preservation of Australia's unique and precious wildlife, we donated funds raised by the sale of our Cockatoo Necklace to WIRES - The New South Wales Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service.

Fight For Sight
Raised: £3,000+

Following health scares that affected Alex’s vision, Fight for Sight is a charity close to Alex’s heart. Over the past decade, he and our team at Alex Monroe HQ have taken part in many physical challenges to support them, from a series of half marathons, to Alex cycling 874 miles across the length of the United Kingdom from John O’ Groats to Lands End in 2010.

Breast Cancer Haven
Raised: £5500+

Since 2015, £30 from every sale of our Haven Tree Necklace has been donated to Breast Cancer Haven – a charity providing emotional and therapeutic support for women diagnosed with breast cancer. This necklace is an interpretation of the charity’s tree logo, symbolising the cycles of life, hope and new beginnings.

RSPB
Raised: £8800+

Alex was delighted to be approached by the RSPB to create a capsule collection of creatures with conservation status, in support of the RSPB’s environmental efforts to protect UK birds and wildlife. Including our Harvest mouse brooch and Wading Curlew necklace, since 2016 a donation of £35 has be made to the RSPB for every piece sold.

Shooting Star Children's Hopsices

2016 saw the 30th anniversary of Alex Monroe.  In celebration, Alex made a miniature sterling silver cake with 22ct gold plated frosting, which was sliced into 6 Limited Edition Cake Slice necklaces.  Our amazing community bid for a slice of Alex’s 30th birthday cake, with the highest bid of £1350 being donated to Shooting Star Children’s Hospices - a leading children’s hospice charity supporting over 700 children, and their families, throughout Surrey and across 15 boroughs of London. This charity was chosen by our good friend, DJ and radio presenter Jo Whiley and we were delighted we could contribute to their fundraising efforts.
