This Mother’s Day we’re taking a moment to focus on her. The wonderful women that surround us, the maternal figures, sisters, friends and loved ones who make us who we are. We know how much sentiment jewellery can hold, with pieces taking on precious memories and often getting passed down through generations.
In recognition of this, we have spoken to some of our incredible AM community, who came together to share stories of the Alex Monroe pieces that they hold dear.

What does ‘celebrating her’ this Mother’s Day mean to you?

Celebrating her this Mother’s Day to me means a lot, it’s a moment to reflect on being a Mother myself and how without my own Mum I wouldn’t be the Mother I am today.

Which piece of jewellery have you chosen that is particularly special to you and why?

I chose the ‘Posy Bloom Bee Locket’ as I feel this pendant sums me up as a Mum but I also love the ‘Just My Type Letter A Necklace’ as it’s the initial of my baby girl Abigail. Abigail is my heartbeat and it’s so special to wear pieces that are a true representation of our bond.

What’s the best thing about the wonderful women in your life?

The best thing about the wonderful women in my life is that they have all inspired and shaped me into the woman I am today.

What does ‘celebrating her’ this Mother’s Day mean to you?

Celebrating Her to me means honouring the people in my life that have helped me become the woman I am. Whilst Mother's Day can be an incredibly tough time, it’s about remembering the women who shaped me and taught me so much about love and family. My Mum was an incredibly strong woman who overcame a lot of struggle in her life so Mother's Day is a moment to celebrate her life and what she instilled in me.

Which piece of jewellery have you chosen that is particularly special to you and why?

My Floral D Letter Necklace pays tribute to my late Mum Deb, wearing it allows me to keep something that reminds me of her close to me every day. It also celebrates my dad David, who has had to be both parents to me for the past couple of years. He has pushed and guided me to be the best version of myself and keeps the memory of my Mum going.

What’s the best thing about the wonderful women in your life?

The women who are and have been in my life have taught me so much about what it means to take no time for granted and live your life kindly and wholesomely with the people you love.

What does ‘celebrating her’ this Mother’s Day mean to you?

This Mother’s Day we will be celebrating with a family meal and a relaxed day at home. We are a really close family and we love spending time together, my Mum is fantastic at bringing everyone together. Mum does so much for us throughout the year it is nice to treat her to a day where she can just relax.

Which piece of jewellery have you chosen that is particularly special to you and why?

We went to the Alex Monroe jewellery school together in January. I wanted to get mum something special, I thought about waiting until next year when we both have special birthdays but so much can happen in a year I thought let’s just do it now. The jewellery school was so much fun, we learnt loads and both came away with pieces we love. Although we were sitting next to each other we didn’t talk about our ideas and we ended up with pieces that capture our style and are surprisingly similar. I loved spending the day with mum, I think about her and the day every time I put the necklace on. Mum sent me a photo of herself wearing hers this week, it is lovely to have a piece of jewellery that connects us both.

What’s the best thing about the wonderful women in your life?

I am really lucky to have some really strong and supportive women in my life and I am lucky to have such a special relationship with my mum.Mum is an extremely caring and thoughtful person and loads of fun too. In the past we have been on some great adventures to Sardinia and Iceland together, we also love going to music concerts and art exhibitions. We love sharing experiences together and the Alex Monroe jewellery school has been one of our favourites.

What does ‘celebrating her’ this Mother’s Day mean to you?

This Mother’s Day I will be celebrating my Mother by spending time in the garden - planting new plants and nurturing long established ones. This is somewhere that she was the happiest when she was alive and she has passed this joy onto me. I always plant something new to mark the day, remembering that I would once be giving her flowers on Mothers Day.

Which piece of jewellery have you chosen that is particularly special to you and why?

When Mum died I bought my sister Nik and I one of the Victorian lockets each so we could always have her picture close to us. It’s an exquisite piece and is treasured by us both.

What’s the best thing about the wonderful women in your life?

I’m surrounded by amazing strong and talented women. From family to great friends and to people I’ve worked with over the years that really inspire me. I love how we all support and encourage each other. Some are Mothers, others, like me, haven’t been so lucky, but I feel blessed with the women around me.
